This is my second attempt at a
daily picture site. The first one was a success, all things considered.
It was a much smaller operation. I was using a Sony Mavica FD-7 digital
camera and a lot of the same software. Although it was only operational
for three months or so, it garnered a relatively decent following.
The experience of doing that site helped shape the creation of this version,
and I look back fondly on the beginning of all of this. The camera
I'm now using is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90 (most pictures pre-2008 are
Fuji FinePix E550, Canon, or Sony Mavica FD-7).

I’d like to share a bit of my philosophy,
both in photography terms and otherwise. I’m a person who really
looks hard and enjoys the little details in life. From snow-covered
rooftops, to blades of grass, graffiti covered buildings, decrepit tombstones,
beautiful beaches, etc. I like to look for the beauty in everything.
I try to reflect that idea in my artwork, capturing not only the obvious
shots (picturesque flowers, etc.) but also challenging ones (man on city
bench eating hot dog) and allowing the viewers to interpret the work for
what it truly is.
-
A real joy of doing this is taking
pictures of my favorite places; whether they’re parks, restaurants, streets,
or whatever… and then being able to share them with others. I’m very
passionate about a lot of cities and areas, and I feel good sharing them
with new people.

The look of the site is supposed
to be an analogy of sorts. I originally used markers and notebook
paper to make the logo, and the text for the titles of the different sections.
However, once uploaded onto my PC it didn’t really pan out as I’d hoped
for. I wanted to use a bright color scheme reminiscent of elementary
school. The analogy is that when I think of elementary school and
those familiar colors it reminds me of working diligently on a project,
which is exactly what I’m doing now with this very website.

I’d really like to get feedback,
especially if you see a place or something in a particular photo that intrigues
you, and want to know more about it. It’d also be nice to hear from
people who recognize people, places, and things in shots.

Photography is amazing because
I can see something interesting with my own eyes, and then capture it and
share it, thus other people can see exactly what I saw.
