Holy shit. As I sit here listening to Acacia Strain's albums 3750 I can't help but think this is some dark and foreboding ass metalcore. Yes I said core. And on top of that tough guy stuff too. Like Hatebreed. But holy sweet jesus. This makes Hatebreed sound like pretty happy fun japanese pop. They have a 3 guitar attack and a bassist. They don't do anything too creative as far as musicality goes but that's not the point. The point is to beat you. Beat you until you beg for mercy. Make you feel as though no where you go you are not safe from anything. This shit is HEAVY!!!!! When I say heavy I mean heavy. The low-end rumble on this cruel monster is just unbelieveable. I'd love to hear what this sounds like on a g-dawg car.
Technicality is not the word of the day hear. Its chug chug jun jun chug chug. But I'm alfuckingright with that. Because the darkness and evil that this band conveys through this music is just amazing. I would have loved to see some more interplay between the three guitars because that could have cause for some serious wild leads and stuff. But they do however throw in some nice little melodic and dissoant touches here and there. Don't flinch or you'll miss them. Such as on the song Smoke Ya Later they put in a simple morose melody behind the chugging. But its sounds nice and the breakdowns on this song are just absolutely devastating. I'm blown away by how hard this band can be.
I've been listening to this stuff quite a bit. One quibble I do have with this album is its brevity but that in of itself is a blessing because if it goes on much longer it can get old quick. Not for me though. The best suggestion I have for this is to get you a semi with subwoofers and loudspeakers inside. Throw this on and go barreling through traffic at high speed. Lata.
