Wow. This band has come around ten-fold. Last I heard them was when I picked up Winds of Creation. They were nuts back then. Average age no more than 19. All Teenagers yet they released an album that was so bruising in the death metal category that it made everyone do a double take. They have now reached their pinnacle.
So, do you like your death metal technical? Ultra brutal also? I certainly do. This possesses both qualities. The riffage on this thing is fast and has lots of jarring stops and starts that gives it a goofy weird rhythmic quality that I especially like. The solos are very slayerish. Very. With monolithic highs and eerie screeches. Love it. The drumming is just plain inhuman. Sounds almost like they took a page from Flo Mounier's book from Cryptopsy. Because the blasting is so fast. Only downside is its a bit triggered sounding but that adds to the cold and calculated approach they offer. The only real weak spot is the new vocalist. Come on man. Do some low roars or gurgles. Do some high screams. Break away and mix it up a little more. The monotone roar is a little old a few tracks in.
I love the mix on this thing. The quality of sound is wonderful. Enveloping, as stated earlier cold also. I enjoy that kind of mechanical aspect of production. Gives it an added layer of brutality. I am a death metal fan. I love it and hope that I never get tired of it. This albums offers up some super death metal in droves.
